HULA-WEEN JACK-O’-LANTERN TIKI TORCH

COMBINE THE BEST OF SUMMER AND THE FALL WITH A FESTIVE, FUN, SPOOKY MEETS TROPICAL ADDITION TO YOUR HOLIDAY DECOR! I love tiki and I love carving pumpkins! So combining the two greatest things together for Halloween seemed like a natural fit. Follow along and make your own Hula-ween tiki torch.

YOU’LL NEED:

MAKE CUTS

Cut the top off the tiki torch leaving 3/4″ above the metal ring

Tape the holes at the base of the planter pot closed
Cut off the top of the planter pot leaving 6″ H

Use the base of the fuel canister to trace a circle on the plywood
Cut out the 3″ circle of plywood with a jigsaw
Cut off the sharp ends of the bamboo edging

ASSEMBLE

Sand the edges of the plywood smooth
Drive the screws into the plywood
Cover the plywood in shellac or a polyurethane coating

Apply glue to the outside edge of the plywood circle
Place it firmly into the torch with the sharp ends of the screws facing up

CONCRETE BASE

Mix the concrete following manufacture’s directions
Fill the planter pot with concrete
Place the torch base firmly into the center of the pot
Gently tap the sides of the pot to release air bubbles
Use a level to make sure the torch is straight
TIP: Use painters tape to hold the torch in place as you make adjustments

Let the concrete dry for a few hours
Fill the canister with torch fuel
Carve your jack-o-lantern
Remove the tape from the planter pot
Wrap the pot with the bamboo edging
Intertwine the metal wires of the edging to link the ends together
Firmly place your beautiful pumpkin buddy to top of the torch stand
Place the canister inside

Now your are ready to light it up and enjoy!!
